Our teachers are experts in helping children grow and learn.

Teachers play a vital role in the development of children. What children learn and experience during their early years shapes their views of themselves and the world, and can directly affect their later success in school, work, and their personal lives.

The most important qualities that all our teachers share is their love for children and their passion and commitment to being educators. They are interested in and responsive to your child’s needs, and share our educational philosophy that teachers should:

  • create learning opportunities in the classroom, on the playground, and in every interaction they have with children
  • respect, support and nurture each child’s individual abilities, interests, and developmental timetable
  • balance the art of leading a group while supporting each child’s learning pace, style and needs
  • serve as role models for appropriate behavior and social interactions
  • foster partnerships with our families, sharing information and insight about children’s progress, daily activities, and development

Each early childhood professional on our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. They all

  • are licensed teachers who meet strictly enforced state standards
  • have specialized degrees or certificates in the fields of Education, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology or Nursing (currently, more than 90 percent).
  • have expertise and experience in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • have qualifications match the standards outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children

Prior to hiring, each potential staff member undergoes a rigorous check of professional references, a comprehensive health examination, and a criminal background check. Each applicant is interviewed extensively, and completes a supervised working interview in the classroom.

To ensure that our teachers are the top in their field, we provide a wealth of professional development and training opportunities that provide continuing education about current trends, new research and theories, and support the best practices in the field. In addition, we offer annual trainings in both CPR and First Aid.

First Circle is a place where staff are supported, respected and appreciated.

Our team-teaching environment and open layout enhance collegiality and a strong team. Because staff consistency is one of the cornerstones of a quality program, we work hard to retain our staff. In a field that is not renowned for high compensation, we provide our staff with generous benefits, regular pay increases, on-going training and tuition reimbursement; we’re rewarded with exceptionally low turnover, and a committed staff.

We're very proud of our team of dedicated professionals. We work hard to provide our staff opportunities for shared leadership, professional advancement, a voice in every policy and procedure, and of course the courtesy and respect we would want for ourselves.
